Former Massapequa H.S. soccer player finishes her college soccer career

J e s s i c a McCavanagh, of Massapequa, a 2003 Massapequa High School graduate, has ended her four-year college soccer career on a high note. She attends Central Connecticut State University, New Britain, Connecticut, majoring in psychology and has been a fouryear starter on the women's soccer team. After her freshman year, she was named Rookie of the Year for the Northeast Conference and named to the SoccerBuzz All-Freshman Northeast Region Team.

McCavanagh was a three-time first team All- Northeast Conference selection, named a NSCAA/Adidas All-Northeast Region Selection, an ESPN The magazine first team academic alldistrict honoree and a Northeast Conference first-team all conference performer this season. She also received her first NEWISA All-New England selection post season.

She played in 82 games totaling 40 goals and 17 assists for 97 career points. She was named 2005 Northeast Conference Tournament MVP. A member of three Northeast Conference Championship teams, McCavanagh is tied for second in goals scored and ranks third in total points in the school's annuals.

Though she spent a lot of time on the soccer field, she excelled in her academics and will be graduating with a 3.8 grade point average.
