Longtime Chamber secretary Gertrude Olin passes away On January 26, 2007 longtime Massapequa Chamber of Commerce secretary Gertrude Olin died. The local resident was viewed as an integral part of the Chamber and was the official greeter of its members at the organizaiton's meetings and functions. In 2006, a retirement party was held for her 13 dedicated years of service as executive secretary and "historian." According to past president, Bob Rubino who knew her well, she was the heart of the Chamber. She maintained the office and its programs as others came and went through its doors. "The Massapequa community and merchants thank her for her many years of devoted service." said Rubino. Mrs. Olin reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home South Chapel where a religious service was held followed by interment in St. James Cemetery.
