Town of Oyster Bay holds line on golf fees

For the eleventh consecutive year, the Town of Oyster Bay is holding the line on membership fees at the Town Golf Course.

"With its challenging, yet very playable holes and its pastoral setting, the Town of Oyster Bay's beautiful, championship golf course in Woodbury ranks among the most popular municipal courses on Long Island," Councilman Delligatti stated. "I know that our members will be pleased to hear that the Town is holding the line on rates at the 1996 level, making our golf course a great value."

The cost of an individual membership will remain at $150 for residents, $300. For non-residents, $100 for senior residents (60 and older) and $200 for nonresident seniors. As a tribute to members of volunteer fire departments and auxiliary police units, there will be a special discount fee of $100.

"On a daily basis, our communities receive invaluable services from both volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police," Councilman Delligatti commented. "This is one of the ways the Town says 'thanks'."

Two schedules of greens fees have been established, one for weekdays and one for weekends and holidays, both of which reflect no increase over the 1996 rate. Weekday greens fees will be $22 for resident members, $17 for resident member seniors, $17 for resident member volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police, $22 for resident juniors (under 21), $32 for resident non-members, $25 for resident nonmember seniors, $25 for resident non-member volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police, $37 for nonresident members, $27 for non-resident senior members, $37 for non-resident juniors, $57 for non-resident members, $43 for non-resident seniors and $44 for a guest of a resident.

Weekend and holiday greens fees will be $29 for resident members, resident member seniors, resident member volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police, $29 for resident juniors; $38 for resident nonmembers, resident non-member seniors, and resident non-member volunteer firefighter and auxiliary police; $51.for non-resident members, non-resident senior members, non-resident juniors; and $69 for non-residents and non-resident seniors.

For the seventh year, the Town will operate a "Tee- Time" reservation system. "This system allows Town Golf Course members to reserve tee times up to thirty days in advance," Councilman Delligatti stated. "The fee for joining the Tee-Time system is $50 for resident members and $100 for non-resident members."

Councilman Delligatti added that the fees for motorized golf carts will be $30.00 for resident members, $40.00 for resident non-members, $50.00 for non-resident members and $65.00 for non-residents.

The Councilman noted that the Town will sponsor leagues for both men and women. A men's and a women's weekday league will begin the first week of May and continue through October with the men's playing on Wednesdays and the women's on Thursdays, both with a tee-off time of 9 a.m. There will also be a Saturday morning men's league starting the third week of April and continuing through October for a total of 28 weeks. The Saturday morning league will tee-off at 9:30 a.m. Leagues are open to Town resident golf course members who are also members of the USGA GHIN Handicap System. Membership for the weekday leagues will be $110 and for the Saturday morning league $280. The membership fee is in addition to the regular golf course membership and does not include greens and cart fees.
