ToBay announces photo contest

"The Play in Oyster Bay Photo Contest gives residents an opportunity to submit photos that capture the many recreational opportunities that abound in the Town," Councilwoman Faughnan said. "There are a wide variety of recreational activities available to Town residents all year long. In addition to our many parks and beaches, there is a wealth of historic sites, museums and other places of interest where people relax, play and have fun in all seasons. The possibilities for great photos are endless."

Those who enter the contest must be residents of the Town of Oyster Bay. Contest entrants may submit only one photograph by the October 5 deadline. Photos can be either color or black and white. No original negatives or slides will be accepted. Only designated award winners will be asked to supply original negatives or transparencies. Residents should put their name, address, phone number and age, written in ink, on the back of the photograph.

Winners will be placed in two categories: those up to 17 years of age and those 18 and older. All first, second and third place winners in both categories will receive plaques. The photographer is responsible for the correct spelling of the names of the subjects in the photos, as well as notifying subjects that their picture may appear in a Town of Oyster Bay calendar or other Town material.

To enter the Play in Oyster Bay Amateur Photo Contest, send your photo to Play in Oyster Bay, Department of Parks, 977 Hicksville Rd., Massapequa, NY 11758. For more information, contact the Parks Department, Recreation Division, at 797-4123.

"Whether photography is your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, I invite you to participate in the Play in Oyster Bay Photo Contest," Councilwoman Faughnan said. "It's an opportunity to show off your creativity, showcase the many ways and places people can have fun in our Town, and, perhaps, have your photograph used in one of our Town publications."
