St. Rose of Lima school in Massapequa celebrate

St. Rose of Lima School celebrated the spirit of giving thanks on Wednesday, November 22 its annual Thanksgiving mass held in the church. As a complement to the classroom emphasis on Catholic social teaching, the third grade students made a donation to a young student suffering from cancer. The annual tradition of giving includes the third graders wearing Pilgrim and Indian outfits to symbolize the Thanksgiving Feast. The Principal of St. Rose, Sr. Kathleen was beaming with pride. The school's mu- sic teacher, Mrs. Zier, conducted the fourth grade choir accompanied by soloist, Megan Strick, flutist, Katherine Piorkowski and the bells performed by Francesca Guido. The entire school was in attendance for this special event. Sr. Kathleen said to all, "As we anticipate another feast of thanksgiving, I am blessed to be a part of this community. Enjoy a rich Thanksgiving." Fr. Dan Hurley was greeting all of the students at the conclusion of the mass.
