Farmingdale School District reports positive results

Farmingdale High School Regents exam results will be reported to the New York State Education Department this month.

In English/Language Arts (ELA), 96 percent of students met graduation requirements for a local diploma, while 89 percent met the requirements for a Regents diploma. In Mathematics, 95 percent met the requirements for a local diploma and 91 percent for a Regents diploma.

Preliminary numbers indicate that Farmingdale has also met the State required 95 percent participation rate for ELA and math for the 2006-2007 school year in all categories. In the 2004-2005 school year in the subcategory of Students with Disabilities, the High School participation rate was 93 percent, placing the school on the State "Not in Good Standing" list. Allan Bauer, Principal, and the High School staff formulated a plan of action that was presented to the Board of Education and immediately implemented. In 2005-2006, the 95 percent participation rate was met by the High School in all categories; however, it takes two years for a school to be moved to the "School in Good Standing" category, which should be the case this year.
