Kathleen Meyer, owner of State Farm Insurance in Massapequa Park Village

Kathleen P. Meyer, Massapequa Park New York State Farm Insurance Agent, died suddenly on March 20, 2007.

Kathleen grew up in Massapequa, graduated Massapequa High School and received her B.A. degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Kathleen was devoted to her family, friends and insureds. She had a great compassion for her fellow man. She loved animals, reading and gardening. Kathleen and her bright, quick wit and smile will always be remembered.

Carol Leff, president of the Massapequa Merchants Association said that Ms. Meyers was a local businesswoman who was committed to people and community. "Kathleen was an integral part of our community and always offered her services to help others," said Leff. "State Farm has been a member of our Merchants Association for many years and she has always had a smile on her face and a smile on her face and a great personality. She was always kind to anyone who needed her help."

She was remembered by her coworkers with warmth.

"Kathleen was more than just my boss," said Jennifer Alleva. "She was my role model, my inspiration and my best friend. She taught me things that I will carry with me for the rest of my life; her genuine heart, warm smile and caring ways have changed me forever."

"I will always hold the special memories we had together close to my heart," said Donna Dietl.

"I was fortunate to have Kathleen in my life for over 20 years and my life will never be the same without her," said Judith Sacino. "She was my best friend and her passing has left an enormous hole in my life and my soul."

Kathleen was preceded in death by her grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Cecil P. Conway, Mr. and Mrs. Malvin Meyer; her father State Farm Agent Henry A. Meyer and baby daughter Kathleen. She is survived by her mother Patricia M. Meyer, her sister Eileen Neer, brother-in-law Dr. Charles S. Neer II and special nephew Charles H. Neer, all of Vinita, Oklahoma.

Funeral services have been coordinated by Massapequa Funeral Home, Massapequa Park, New York and Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, Vinita, Oklahoma, Pastor Robert E. Johns officiating. Final resting place will be Fairview Cemetery, Vinita, Oklahoma. A memorial service will be held in Massapequa later this spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Kathleen's name to the Children's Community Reading Program, First United Methodist Church, 314 West Canadian Avenue, Vinita OK 74301. A book plate in memory of Kathleen will mark each book.
