The weather was frightful, but a bit of kindness found its way through the storm

Dear Editor:

As the Postmaster I have gotten to know so many of the residents in this community. Some people I never get to meet, but it never ceases to amaze me how just about everyone I come into contact with in Massapequa have the most exceptional qualities. Kindness, concern and consideration top the list.

Last week was no exception.

As I was trying to clean the ice and snow off my car during the recent ice storm I must have looked a sorry sight as I was struggling with my plastic ice scraper. A gentleman in a black Toyota pulled up next to me and promptly told me to sit in my car and get warm. He proceeded to clean all the windows of the car, then tapped on the window and waved goodbye with a smile. An angel in a storm.

Instances like this are just so typical of this community. And it is what makes living or working in Massapequa Park such a joy.

It's the people that make up this absolutely beautiful village.

Rae Culotta, Postmaster Massapequa Park, NY 11762
