Residents invited to join senior softball league

Oyster Bay Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone invites residents ages 60 and older to join the Town of Oyster Bay Senior Citizen Softball League, whose season officially kicks off in April.

"Our four fine Town-sponsored softball teams, the Tobay Pirates, Lions, Tigers and Jaguars, are all members of the Long Island Senior Softball Association," the Councilman said. "The teams play in both Nassau and Suffolk Counties, and managers try to place participants to a team which practices as close to their home as possible."

Councilman Macagnone noted that joining a Townsponsored senior softball team is a great way to get some exercise while reconnecting with old friends or making new ones.

"Our senior softball teams are spectator favorites," the Councilman noted. "Friends, relatives and passers-by get very involved in cheering their favorite team."

According to Councilman Macagnone, the senior softball season runs from April through October, although residents may register at any time. For further information on the Town's Senior Softball teams, contact the Department of Community and Youth Services at 516- 797-7900.
