Still time to nominate Town of Oyster Bay Senior Citizen of the Year Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that residents still have an opportunity to recognize an exceptional senior living in the Town of Oyster Bay as the 2007 Senior Citizen of the Year. "Each year, the Town invites senior club directors and local residents to nominate one senior man or woman whom they believe is qualified to be the 'Senior Citizen of the Year,' somebody who is active in their community," Supervisor Venditto said. "The designee will be honored at the Town of Oyster Bay Senior of the Year Luncheon, which will be held this year on May 10." Candidates must be at least 60 years of age and live in the Town of Oyster Bay. Prior winners of the award are not eligible, however prior nominees who did not win are eligible to be nominated again. "Candidates should be individuals who have been actively involved in the community and who have demonstrated outstanding concern for others," Supervisor Venditto stated. "When nominating an individual, please make sure to include detailed information supporting your view, including the candidate's involvement from age 60 to the present." All nominations must be submitted on an official nominating form, which is obtainable at the Town Clerk's Office in Town Hall North (Oyster Bay) and in the Senior Office in Town Hall South (Massapequa), as well as at local libraries and Town community centers in Glen Head, Syosset, Woodbury, Hicksville and North Massapequa. Residents may also request a nomination form by calling the Department of Community and Youth Services, Senior Division, at 797-7900.
"It is thanks to our senior residents that we enjoy so many of the things we have in the Town of Oyster Bay today, and for that we are forever grateful," Supervisor Venditto said. "I hope you take the time to nominate a special senior in your community for the 2007 Senior Citizen of the Year Award."
