Plainedge students win Youth Essay Contest
Three students in Mrs. Andes fifth grade class at Plainedge's Eastplain Elementary School were winners of the 2007 Butehorn Brothers Post 4987 Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen Youth Essay Contest. Gabriel Gorre, Olivia Colon and Tina Zheng wrote their essays on the topic of Citizenship in America.
The three students were honored on March 6 at the annual Awards Night held at Charles Campagne Elementary School in Bethpage. Each student received refreshments, a monetary prize and certificates recognizing their achievements.
