Michael Levantino receives Silver Star

Midshipman Michael Levantino of Massapequa has received a Silver Star at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point for academic achievement during the first term of 2007.

Levantino was honored at the annual Academic Awards Ceremony at Land Hall on January 31. Silver Stars are awarded to students who achieve a grade point average of 3.00 to 3.49 during an academic semester. An "academic star" is equivalent to being named to the dean's list.
