ToBay to offer free ballroom dance instruction

Residents living in the Town of Oyster Bay who are looking for a fun way to spend their Monday evenings are invited to sign up for free ballroom dance instruction. According to Town Councilman Anthony D. Macagnone, residents of all ages can come down to a ballroom dancing class starting on Monday, April 9, at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m.

The first hour of the class will focus on instruction, followed by two hours of dancing. There is no pre-registration required, but participants must show proof of residency. Classes will be held at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center, 28 West Carl Street in Hicksville, on the following Mondays: May 7, June 4, July 2, August 6, September 10, October 1, November 5 and December 3. All classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

"Besides the valuable social benefits of dancing, it is also a great stress reliever", Councilman Macagnone said. "It builds confidence, alertness and good attitude. It also has been proven to be a great physical benefit as it physically tones the whole body in enjoyable exercise."

For more information about the Town's ballroom dancing classes, call the Town of Oyster Bay's Department of Community & Youth Services at 516- 797-7900.
