ToBay offers brochure on home improvements and your assessment

The Town of Oyster Bay has an informative brochure to assist Town residents with home improvements, assessment and home improvement property tax exemptions, according to Receiver of Taxes James J. Stefanich.

The brochure contains an overview provided by the Nassau County Board of Assessors of the County's assessment procedures and how home improvements affect it. There is also a special section detailing the Home Improvement Property Tax Exemption.

"Homeowners frequently request information about the property tax assessment procedure in Nassau County," said Receiver Stefanich. "Many people are concerned with determining what effect planned home improvements may have on their assessments."

Receiver Stefanich noted that any resident or organization interested in obtaining a free brochure can pick up one at the Town Halls North (Oyster Bay) and South (Massapequa), the Department of Public Works (Syosset) and at major park facilities, or write to the Town of Oyster Bay Public Information Office, 54 Audrey Ave., Oyster Bay, N.Y. 11771 or call 624-6380.
