James Barrow: FBI's first African American Special Agent
He lived in Amityville for many years and was St. Martin's Parish Organist when he was only 15 years old. In 1957 he graduated from the Cathedral College of the Immaculate Conception of New York in 1957 where he attended with the Rev. Msgr. Daniel Hurley, pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Massapequa. An avid jazz fan and overall music aficionado, he loved to play the piano. According to his family, the loving husband, father and grandfather could also be found playing racquetball and cards. Mr. Barrow leaves behind his lifelong companion, Maria C. Sanchez; his daughters: Valerie and Jocelyn; his grandchildren: Jennifer and Joshua; his brothers: Henry Clark Tomlinson , William Archer and his wife Idrys and Paul and Thomas Wagner; as well as other loved ones, friends and colleagues. He was predeceased by his son, Kevin William and his parents, George and Ella Mae of Amityville. A Funeral Mass was celebrated March 23, 2007 at Incarnation Catholic Church in Tampa, Florida where he was a devout member. Interment followed at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Clearwater, Florida.
