Sports gear collected for the needy

New and used sports gear was collected at Last Licks in Massapequa on Sunday, March 25. All of the donated equipment will be distributed to needy children here on Long Island, and as far away as Honduras. Jake Silverman , shown right, coordinated the drive with Project HOTSHOTS, a nonprofit charity dedicated to helping kids and teens with music, art, school supplies and sports equipment. "The people of Massapequa really turned out to donate their equipment. It was great," said Jake's mom, Amy Hartman. Visit ProjectHOTSHOTS.org for more info.
