Spirit of Giving Continues at Birch Lane

Although the holidays are long gone, the spirit of giving is still going strong at Birch Lane Elementary School in the Massapequa School District. With the arrival of the frigid temperatures, local food pantries that service the homeless and those in need, are finding their shelves depleted. With the support of their families and Birch Lane staff, students galvanized their efforts, and created a "Food Drive Committee," spearheaded by the PTA. Between February 12th and February 15th, food donations came pouring in, mini-vans were loaded to capacity, and much needed items were delivered to a local outreach food pantry program.
