Town of Oyster Bay named 'Tree City USA' for 19th consecutive year

For the 19th consecutive year, the Town of Oyster Bay has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation, it was announced by Town Supervisor John Venditto.

"The 'Tree City USA' designation is given each year by the National Arbor Day Foundation to communities which have developed and implemented comprehensive tree planting and preservation programs," Supervisor Venditto stated. "This national recognition is very gratifying to the Town Board because we have made the care of our community tree resources a top priority."

Supervisor Venditto noted that the "Tree City USA" program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.

"An effective community forestry program is an ongoing process of growth and renewal, a program of planting and care that continues through the years," Supervisor Venditto stated. "The Town of Oyster Bay has made a commitment to protecting and enhancing its tree resources, and its designation as a Tree City USA for the 19th consecutive year is testament to the commitment. I will continue to do everything I can to see that our community tree program continues to flourish."
