New Island Hospital receives cozy knitted blankets for their patients

Care to Knit, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization of caring people who knit and crochet blankets, hats & mittens, and stuffed animals to help those in need. Recently they donated warm, cozy lap blankets to New Island Hospital for patients to use and take home. Patricia Stickle Assistant Vice President of Community Relations said, "We are very grateful to Care to Knit and all their wonderful people who give so generously of their time & talent to provide comfort to others. It gives our patients the personalized touch that New Island is known for."

Care to knit has donated over 1000 items to organizations this past year made by knitters and crocheters in the metropolitan area, upstate New York, New England and the southwest. They receive yard and supplies, enabling their volunteers to keep their cost down.

For more information or to donate yarn and materials to Care to Knit please call 1-800-966-KNIT. For information or to donate to the Circle of Friends Fund at New Island Hospital please call community relations at 516-520-2487.
