Town of Oyster Bay holds the line on beach fees Town of Oyster Bay resident beach-lovers will be pleased to know that they will be able to enjoy the sand and surf at the Town's seven beaches for the same price they paid in 2006, according to Town Councilwoman Rose Marie Walker. "With Long Island Sound on our Town's north shore and the Atlantic Ocean on our Town's south shore, Oyster Bay Town residents have seven beautiful beaches…Centre Island, Philip B. Healey at Florence Avenue, Theodore Roosevelt, Charles E. Ransom, Harry Tappen and Tobay…from which to choose," Councilwoman Walker said. "This summer, for only $35, residents will be able to purchase a seasonal parking sticker, good at all Town beaches. Town resident military veterans or active military members, volunteer firefighters, auxiliary police and members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary will get a reduced rate of $15, the Town's way of thanking them for the vital services they provide. Senior citizens, 60 and older, who have a Town Senior Citizen Beach I.D. Card, obtainable at the Town Clerk's Office for a one-time fee of $15 plus a $2 photo fee, will be able to obtain a beach sticker at no charge, one of many ways the Town recognizes the innumerable contributions our seniors have made, and continue to make, to our communities." Disabled Town residents who are receiving disability insurance benefits under the Social Security Act, as well as those who have a permanent disability as certified in writing by a physician, can obtain a free beach sticker after first securing an I.D. card at the Town Clerk's Office for a one-time fee of $15 plus $2 photo fee. The daily admission for vehicles without stickers will be $20. Non-residents will be able to visit Tobay, Centre Island and Ransom Beaches, Monday through Friday for a $25 daily fee and Centre Island and Ransom Beaches Saturday, Sunday and holidays for a daily fee of $35. Non-residents can obtain a seasonal sticker for Tappen Beach for $70. Members of volunteer fire department located outside the Town of Oyster Bay, but in New York State, as well as military veterans and active military members can obtain a seasonal sticker for $30 with proper documentation. Disabled non-Town residents who are receiving disability insurance benefits under the Social Security Act, as well as those who have a permanent disability as certified in writing by a physician, can obtain a free beach sticker with proper documentation. The early sale of beach stickers will begin on Saturday, May 12, at Tobay and Theodore Roosevelt Beaches and John J. Burns Town Park. Stickers will go on sale at all beaches beginning Saturday, June 16.
Tobay, Centre Island, Philip B. Healey at Florence Avenue and Theodore Roosevelt Beaches will be open for weekends only beginning Saturday, May 26. All beaches will be open seven days a week from Saturday, June 16, through Monday, September 3 (Labor Day). Fees will be collected between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
