Eleanor Carpenter: Longtime Massapequa Park resident

Eleanor Marie Carpenter, who lived on Grand Boulevard in Massapequa Park for more than 36 years, died April 13, 2007 in Ocala, Florida. She was 83 years old.

Born in nearby Merrick, she dedicated her life to her husband and children as a homemaker. A devoted Methodist, she was also an avid bowler and bingo player. In 1988, she retired with her husband to Florida.

Mrs. Carpenter leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Stephen, Jr.; her children: Donald and his wife Susan of Massapequa Park and Dorothy Berger and her husband Richard of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; and her grandchildren: Scott and Michelle. She was predeceased by her sister, Helen Tonnesen.

She reposed at the Roberts Funeral Homes Bruce Chapel West, 6241 SW St. Rd. 200, Ocala, Florida. A Funeral Service was held at the home on April 17, 2007 with Chaplain Jack Cushman officiating. Interment followed in Florida National Cemetery.
