Massapequa H.S. student leads Greater LI Running Club Shoe Drive

Massapequa High Schooler Kristen Grennan headed up the highly successful One World Running Shoe Drive conducted in conjunction with the Greater Long Island Running Club.

Well over 100 pair of used shoes were collected. Many of them will be washed and sent to developing countries, primarily in Africa. A portion of the shoes will be donated to shelter and churches in the United States. Those that are worn out and not suitable for use will be sent to Nike to be ground up and made into running tracks and playg r o u n d s t h r o u g h Nike's Reuse a-Shoe Program.
