Post Office announces flat fee ÔForever Stamp' Remember Mr. Zip? If you remember the mascot of the Zone Improvement Plan, then you know that zip codes are one of the greatest innovations of the Postal Service. The same can be said about the Pony Express. Well, here's the latest one of a kind innovation: The Forever Stamp. Recently issued at a price of 41 cents, this stamp features the Liberty Bell and can be used on any present or future first class one ounce letter regardless of what the postage rate is. Remember the price of a first class letter will be raised to 41 cents on May 14. In forthcoming years, when the price of first class postage increases, this stamp, which you can purchase now at 41 cents, can be used. Understand, though, that during future rate increases, the Forever Stamp will be sold at the new rate. So, the one purchased right now is the most valuable and most historic. To commemorate this event the Massapequa and Massapequa Park Post Offices are offering a limited number of commemorative first day of issue cachets. These are real collectors items, something for your family time capsule. Imagine years from now you can hand this down to your grandchildren and great grandchildren as a historic document. The cachet features a silk replica of the Forever "Liberty Bell" Stamp, complete with the first day of issue postmark, April 12, 2007, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These cachets are being offered complete in protective cashing at the price of $5 each. They won't last.
Go to the Post Office and be a part of history.
