Katherine Brooks, longtime Massapequan, at 82

Loving mother, grandmother and wife Katherine A. Brooks, who spent her life in and around Massapequa, died April 21, 2007. She was 82 years old and had devoted her life to nurturing her family.

Born and raised in Seaford, she moved to Berkeley Place in Massapequa and lived there for 64 years. She was a loving homemaker and an avid bowler who ran the Tri-Town Bowling Ladies League for 40 years.

Mrs. Brooks (nee Strohecker) leaves behind her children: William and his wife Karen, Ronald and his wife Lavonne and Doreen - and her husband Michael; her daughter-in-law Dale; her beloved grandchildren: Colleen Campbell, Erin Mansukani, Christopher, Stephen and Kelsey; her great granddaughter, Jayne Mansukani; her sister, Mary Smith; numerous sisters and brother-in-laws; many nieces and nephews; her best friend of 70 years, Charlotte Zimmerman. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, William, and her son, Randy.

She reposed at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Road, Seaford followed by interment in Calverton National Cemetery. A Mass of Christian Burial was said April 26, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church.
