THE MASSAPEQUA SCHOOL BOARD BUZZ The following is a summary of actions taken by the Massapequa Board of Education at its regularly scheduled meeting on May 17, 2007. The Board of Education began the meeting in the MHS band room with a special gathering to honor those teachers receiving tenure and those teachers retiring at the end of the year. The Board of Education received the following reports: å Superintendent's Report including results of the May 17th student vote, identifying the mural chosen to be painted by our AP art students at the Westfield Mall +A report on recommended revisions to the Code of Conduct. +A report on the 2007-08 Professional Development Plan. The Board of Education acted on a variety of new business, including resolutions to: +Declare the result of the ballot upon reviewing the tabulation contained in the report of the Chief Inspectors of Election. +Approve a new contract with the East Meadow Driving School for the period from July 1, 2007 through June 30, 2010. +Accept a donation of $500 from Mr. Trevor R. Hume for the establishment of a scholarship for a deserving senior art student. +Accept a donation of $500 from the M-Tract Policy Board for the establishment of a scholarship for a deserving senior who participated in the Nursery School Program and who displayed a caring and extraordinary rapport with children.
