Plainedge students jump all over heart disease

More than 250 students from Schwarting Elementary School in Plainedge participated in the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association on February 7.

Students raised $9,500 in the fight against heart disease and stroke, the nation's number one and number three killers.

"This year was a huge success," said Erinn Martone, physical education teacher at Schwarting. "We are very proud of all the jumpers, and we all had a lot of fun." Martone, along with Lauren Tartamella, were co-coordinators of this year's event.
