Professional soccer player meets with fifth grade students

The Albany Avenue School in Farmingdale was pleased to have Christopher Aloisi, a professional soccer player in the MLS, come to the school to talk with some fifth-grade classes. Aloisi discussed the importance of following your dreams and how it coincides with doing well in school. The fifth graders present found him to be inspirational for both athletics and academics. The students wrote about their experience.

"When Chris Aloisi came to our school he said he loved soccer, but he told us that he chose Syracuse University because it was the best academic school that he got an offer to go to and that our education is more important than sports. He came to our school to tell us to follow our dreams and to never give up." - Connor (fifth grader)

"When Chris Aloisi came to visit, he told us many important things about succeeding in life. He explained to us that in order to be successful, you must try your hardest in everything you do. Chris told us that one of the only reasons he became successful is by working hard in both school and by practicing soccer everyday. Without his grades, he said he probably would not have made it to the MSL." - Leah (fifth Grader)

"When Chris Aloisi visited our school I was very excited because I was talking to a professional soccer player. He is a very nice person and he taught me a lot about following my dreams and sticking with what I want to do. He talked about his life growing up and when he went to Syracuse. He really inspired me. "- Christina (fifth grader)

After winning the 2006 MLS Cup Championship last season with the Houston Dynamo, Aloisi is currently seeking a team to relocate to the east coast. He has previously played for San Jose and the LA Galaxy, the team that has recently announced their contract with England's National All- Star David Beckham.
