Howitt Middle School entrepreneurial students

Students of tSe Howitt Middle School in Farmingdale are learning to experience real-life entrepreneurship. Lisa Leone's seventh-grade home and careers class created various class businesses. Throughout April and May, the students were actively participating in businesses that cater to the school and the community. All the proceeds raised from the business endeavors will benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital. The students kicked off the experience with "Party Pancakes," a healthy pancake breakfast (whole wheat pancakes, fresh fruit and smoothies) and delivered them to the staff. "Almost Friday" was an after school movie event featuring, "Happy Feet," coupled with snacks. "C & B Treats" was a business of low-fat brownie and wholewheat chocolate chip cookies to be delivered out. And coming soon will be Dalers printed shorts for sale, and a movie night raffle (gift certificates donated by local businesses).
