Musical families bring their music to the classroom
Farmingdale's Stanley D. Saltzman East Memorial School learned about musical families. Music teacher Jennifer Dzielak asked her first and second graders to invite any musical members of the family to come in and demonstrate their instruments to the class. Children were encouraged to ask questions of the musicians about playing, practicing and their love of music. The live sight, sound and feel of these musical instruments made a wonderful impression on the students that a recording or picture could not fulfill alone.
