Howitt Middle School learns about Italian music

Tenth grade Italian Honor Society students Jenna Witterman and Michelle Marsilla were invited by la Signora Wines to Farmingdale's Howitt Middle School to speak to some IFLstudents about the Italian language and Italy.

Witterman spoke to the students about the Italian language in music. She listed on the board musical terms such as alto, forte, largo, and asked the students "Che significa?" In the end she serenaded the students with Larghetto on her clarinet. Marsilla instead colored the student's day with a lesson on colors. She presented the colors on the board and then had the students play "che colore e`?" with Skittles. She then pointed to the Italian flag and asked "che colore e`?" In the end the students were pointing to various objects in the room and reciting the colors in Italian .

The sixth graders applauded the tenth graders for their lessons.
