60 Years Together... And still in love

Dorothy and Frank Speck are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2007. Dorothy Higgins and Frank met in Brooklyn in 1946 after he had been discharged from the United States Navy in December 1945 after four years in the service during World War II. Dorothy was a telephone operator with AT & T. They had both just turned 21.

The Specks were married at St. Pancros R.C. Church in Glendale, Queens on June 21, 1947. They had a house built in Massapequa in 1954 and are still there after 53 years. Frank has the same 53 years in the service of the Massapequa Fire Department, The Knights of Columbus and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

After having three children, Deborah, Steven and Michael, Dorothy went back to work at Verizon, bridged her time and then retired with 29 years of service. Frank retired from Exxon Mobil Corp.

Their niece and her husband, Dorothy and James Sinnott, who migrated to Florida 20 years ago from Massapequa, are coming up to celebrate the Speck's 60th anniversary and their own 50th anniversary on June 15, 2007.
