Congressman King assists veterans in obtaining military medals Our nation owes an enormous debt of gratitude to those men and women who bravely served our country in the military. Unfortunately, for a wide variety of reasons, many veterans never received the medals they earned or have misplaced them over the years. In an effort to be of all possible assistance, United States Congressman Peter T. King is offering to obtain or replace military medals for veterans living in the 3rd Congressional District. "I can think of no better tribute to our veterans then to be able to obtain their military medals," Congressman King said. "During my 14 years in Congress, I've had the distinct honor of being able obtain military medals for hundreds of veterans." According to Congressman King, any veteran interested in obtaining their military medals, must mail a written request to his Massapequa Park District Office, 1003 Park Blvd., Massapequa Park, NY 11762. In the request, please include full name, contact information, branch of service, service number, social security number, dates of service as well as a copy of discharge papers. A signature by the veteran or the next-of-kin (unmarried widow or widower, son or daughter, father or mother, brother or sister of the deceased veteran) is required on all requests. "Family members may only request medals and awards of living veterans by obtaining signed authorizations," Congressman King stated. "For deceased veterans, written requests will be accepted from next-of-kin."
Congressman King added that any veteran interested in additional information on obtaining military medals should contact his Massapequa District Office at 516 or 631- 541-4225.
