St. William's students raise money for children with cancer

Recently Colleen Conaty, Jessica Gallagher and Mary Korchak, seventh graders at St. William the Abbot, Seaford, celebrated their 13th birthdays in a special way. The girls hosted a joint birthday party and asked the guests to bring donations, in lieu of birthday gifts, for the Winthrop Hospital Children's Cancer Center. Their seventh grade classmates and their families responded with tremendous generosity and the girls raised over $2,100.00.

The girls choose to raise money for the Winthrop Hospital Children's Cancer Care Center because Colleen's brother, Colin, is currently a patient there. The money raised will help Colin Conaty and other young cancer patients.

The girls had the opportunity to present the donation to the hospital on April 25th. The girls were praised for their kindheartedness and the staff was very appreciative of their efforts on behalf of the young cancer patients at Winthrop Hospital.

Shown in the photo are Mary Korchak, Jessica Gallagher and Colleen Conaty.
