Northside Elementary School, buzzing with biographies

Mrs. Ryan's fourth-grade class is buzzing with biographies at Farmingdale's Northside Elementary School. Students pretended to be figures from history and were available for viewing as a "wax figure." Dressed up as their chosen character, the students "freeze" themselves in position to seem like a wax figure. The "wax figures" have to be knowledgeable about their chosen historical figure and be able to field questions from parents, teachers and friends who ask.

Booths were set up around the room for people to visit and ask the student about the biographical figure that they have dressed up to represent. As the classes have been learning about biographies, the students have chosen someone to represent from the many historical stories they have learned in class.

The students have enjoyed bringing their biographical characters to life. These different activities helped connect the students to their reading, ultimately bringing more enjoyment to the world of reading.
