Editorial The controversy and intrigue surrounding the suspension of Massapequa School Superintendent Maureen Flaherty took on greater depth last week as a lawsuit was filed by a school employee who has made very serious charges not only against Flaherty but also against other school officials. The story first appeared on our website last week, and this week's edition has an an updated version of page one. What we ask our readers is to remember that the lawsuit is, at this point, a list of allegations and charges and that the process of sorting, countering, verifying, proving and otherwise responding to those allegations by the defendants has not even gotten underway. What we reported on is only the first phase of the judicial system we enjoy in this country- the complaint- and the individuals who are the subject of the charges have not had their day in court. Be assured that as this lawsuit, this issue and this controversy continues we will do our best to report on it and keep you informed. Until then, please keep an open mind and afford everyone involved the benefit of a fair and full hearing on the charges. | |||||
