Longtime Masspequa resident Eleanore Niewohner

Longtime Massapequa resident Eleanore Marie Niewohner died on July 8, 2007. She liked living in Massapequa said her nephew because the location enabled her to enjoy fishing, bird watching, and the beach.

Her nephew Michael Krmornik said she loved animals and the out-of-doors, but also enjoyed attending many Broadway shows. After her retirement from Doubled Publishing where she worked as an executive secretary, she spent time golfing as a member of the Peninsula Gold Club and the Bethpage State Park Golf Course.

Born in Brooklyn, she moved to Queens and then to Massapequa in the 1960s. Single with no children, she kept busy and was always surrounded by family.

In addition to her nephew Ms. Niewohner is survived by her cousins Gary Leckstrom of Cresco, Pennsylvania; Joan MacKenzie of Cocoa Beach, Florida, and by her nephews, Michael T. Komornik Jr. and his wife Annie M. of Cumming, Georgia and William F. Komornik and his wife Angela J. of Mobile, Alabama. Her grand nephews Michael A. and Terri L. Komornik also survive her.

Ms. Niewohner reposed at the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home, 3863 Merrick Rd., Seaford. A Mass of Christian Burial was said Wednesday, July 25, 2007, 10 a.m. at St. William
