Sunrise Highway project is well driven

We drive through the New York State DOT's project along Sunrise Highway from Amityville through Massapequa every day and must comment on the way in which the project is proceeding. Overall, the DOT is to be commended for the way in which it is being managed.

No one likes road work. It adds to traffic congestion, sends drivers on detours and forces everyone to slow down. But the fact is that without these projects our roads would fall into disrepair and become outdated.

This project, under the management of Inter County Pavers, appears to be moving forward as efficiently as possible, with as little disruption as possible. The areas worked on are clearly marked off, and temporary striping and signage is clear.

The workers take additional risks by working at night, but that relieves traffic problems during peak hours. We should all appreciate of that and continue to maintain our patience as they work under the deadline of the coming holiday shopping season.
