The 16th annual David Lerner Associates Police Appreciation Run was held Thursday, June 14. Cloudy skies and a "runner friendly cool" start marked the evening and a crowd of runners and walkers started following Kevin McQuillan helping to honor America by Singing the National Anthem.

Runners from the Massapequas were especially prominent in the 2007 edition of the Run. Top local finishers included Eileen Reda of Massapequa, who was the overall women's winner in the law enforcement division; Kevin Healy of Massapequa Park, who scored first in the men's master law enforcement division; Erin Liana of Massapequa who took third place honors among the women in the 25 to 29 age group; Maryann McCleod of Massapequa, who earned third place among the women in the 35 to 39 age group; Greg Karl of Massapequa Park, who scored second in the 55 to 59 age group and Howard Kestenbaum, of Massapequa Park, who won the third place award in the 75 to 79 age group.

The Run raised a considerable amount of money for the Police Crisis Fund that provides financial assistance to local police officers and their families in times of personal emergency. Contributions to the Fund are always welcome. Call the Club office at 516- 349-7646 for more information.
