Captree boating classes registration underway

Captree Power Squadron (part of the nationwide non-profit organization United States Power Squadrons) will be conducting boating classes soon. Classes all include the necessary New York State P.W.C. certification now required of Personal Water Craft (Jet-Ski) operators of all ages. Also included are New York State and Federal Regulations, Rules of the Road on the water, required safety equipment and navigation instruction. All of the following courses upon completion may also qualify you for reduced marine liability insurance rates. To register for these classes simply attend the first session as listed below. Classes are one night per week.

Classes are held as follows:

•North Babylon - Basic Boating Mondays starting September 10 for eight weeks, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Babylon Town Hall Annex, Phelps Lane.

•North Babylon - Boat Smart, Tuesdays starting September 18 for five weeks, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Babylon Town Hall Annex, Phelps Lane.

•Farmingdale - Boat Smart, Tuesdays starting October 2 for five weeks from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Howitt Middle School, Van Cott Avenue.

•Lindenhurst - Boat Smart, Wednesdays starting October 3 for five weeks, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Lindenhurst Middle School, Wellwood Avenue.

•Lindenhurst - Boat Smart, Wednesdays starting November 7 for five weeks, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Lindenhurst Middle School, Wellwood Avenue.

•New York State Young Boaters Course: ages 10 to 18, Farmingdale, Tuesdays starting October 2 for six weeks at the Howitt Middle School, Van Cott Avenue, Farmingdale.

A nominal fee is charged to cover the cost of books and materials. The New York state class is free. For information, call 631-789-5838.
