Volunteers needed

Long Island Cares, Inc. The Harry Chapin Food Bank is looking for volunteers to assist with its 15th Annual Check-Out Hunger Campaign from October 1, 2007 through January 1, 2008.

Check-Out Hunger is a unique partnership between Long Island Cares, area supermarkets, shoppers and volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to set up and maintain Check-Out Hunger Supplies at stores in their own local area. Participating supermarkets include: King Kullen, ShopRite, Pathmark, Wild by Nature, Waldbaums, Food Emporium, Food Town and Kings.

This program generates much needed funding to help feed approximately 259,000 hungry Long Islanders annually including 93,000 children.

Sign-ups begin right away. Set up begins October 1 and required approximately one half hour per week.

For information, including Nassau and Suffolk locations, call Tina at 631-582-FOOD (3663), extension 105.
