Jeff Burke of North Massapequa recognized with scholarship

Jeff Burke, of North Massapequa, a criminal justice major at Fairleigh Dickinson University's (FDU) Metropolitan Campus, Teaneck is shown being congratulated by Robert Vodde, director School of Criminal Justice, after presenting his thesis, The Constitutionality and Ramifications of Gun Control at FDU's Honors Research Program Day on April 20.

Burke is the recipient of Colonel Fairleigh S. Dickinson Scholarship and was also awarded the Division of Student Affairs Award, as a freshman; the University College Academic Dean's Award in 2006 and is also a Global Scholar. He has been on the honor's and dean's list every semester, won the Dean's Scholarship and is a member of the Phi Omega Epsilon and Phi Zeta Kappa honors societies. He has been active in the Campus Ministry, Campus Standards Judicial Committee and was president of the Criminal Justice Club for two terms.

Burke has completed four internships: Special Police Officer with the Hackensack Police Department, a Sworn Intern with US Probation & Pretrial Service, an Executive Intern with Target Corporation and as an intern with the Bergen County Prosecutors Office, Computer Crime Task Force.
