School bells ring-in another year

Kindergarten students in Plainedge are off the bus and headed to their classrooms for their first day of school.
Schools opened their doors to students last week with teachers and administrators on hand to welcome them.

At Plainedge High School, anxious students were excited to see their friends and share stories about their summer vacations, while over at Plainedge Middle School, students were greeted with a warm welcome by Principal Dr. Mary Hannon and her staff. Chatter over classroom assignments echoed throughout the halls.

Parents and relatives alike were on hand at the Eastplain Elementary School to see the youngsters off for their first day. However, none seemed more excited than the newest students, the Eastplain Kindergarten Class.

Plainedge Superintendent Christine P'Simer summed it up as she too met with students. "There is nothing like the first day of school," she said. "We look forward to a wonderful 08'-09' school year."
