At the Library... 40 Harbor Lane 799-0770 •The work of local photographer Jessica Rooney will be on display in the downstairs gallery of the Harbor Lane Library during the month of Sept. •An Insulin Pump Support Group will meet at the Harbor Lane Library, tonight, Wednesday, September 19, 7 p.m. This support group is for anyone wearing an insulin pump or who would like to learn more about insulin pump therapy. A representative Animas Corporation will be available. •The Harbor Lane Library will host a health and wellness seminar entitled Food and Good Mood Diet, presented by health, nutrition and wellness specialist Alice Kaufman, Wednesday, September 19, 2 p.m. •The Harbor Lane Library will host a series of Financial Wealth and Well-being with Nutritional Health and Wellness seminars with Financial Advisor Tom Raad and Holistic Nurse Elizabeth Primiano. The third of these seminars will be held Wednesday, September 26, 7:30 p.m. and will cover Mapping Your Financial Future and how to Maintain Optimal Nutrition for Life. Lunch will take place at Vita's on 46th Street. •On Wednesday, September 19, 7:30 p.m., a program entitled Mortgage 101 for New Home Buyers will be given by mortgage broker Wendy Hopper. Topics will include basic mortgage terms, the different types of mortgages, the true cost of buying a house and the best no cost/low cost loans. He will cover popular sites such as Amazon and eBay,and also show you the less familiar sites. The program is run by certified teacher Linda Martella and covers: alleviation of separation anxiety, kindergarten readiness, pre-writing skills, interactive play, storytime and craft. The cost is $750 for three days for four years olds and $550 for two days for three year olds. The program runs September to May. Amityville, Oak and John Streets 631-264-0567 •For the month of September a display entitled A Community of Quilters will be at the library. Most of the items on display were hand-quilted by local residents, or those from our neighboring communities. Some quilts are collectible items, dating back to the turn of the 20th century, including a 1906 red work quilt, a silk World War 1 cigarette card quilt and a circa 1900 cigar box felt quilt. Designs such as flying geese, a maple leaf and baby blocks can be found in the quilts handmade by our community of quilters. This display commemorates the Amityville Public Library's Centennial Celebration.
