Freda Miale: Former Post Layout Artist, 83

Longtime Massapequa resident and former Massapequa Post employee, Freda Miale was 83 years old when she died on August 31, 2007. Until the late 1970s, she worked as a drafts person or layout artist for the Massapequa Post newspaper, and loved it, according to her son Daniel who said she was a wonderful mother.

Born in Brooklyn, in 1960 she moved to Massachusetts Avenue in Massapequa with her husband, Frank and began her family. A talented cook, she will long be remembered for her Italian food. Mrs. Miale loved to spend time with her family, as well as sew and knit.

"She was my good friend for at least 40 years," said her neighbor Gloria Prochilo. "will miss her."

Mrs. Miale leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Frank of Massapequa; her children: Frank of Carmel, New York, Daniel of Massapequa and Karen Rattinger and her husband Paul of East Islip; her grandchildren: Nicole, Matthew (Kristine), Glenn, Justin and Kelley; and her great grandchild, Ryan. She was predeceased by her daughter, Janet and her three brothers.

She reposed at the William E. Law Funeral Home, Massapequa, on September 3, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Maria Regina R.C. Church, Seaford, on September 4, 2007 followed by interment in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale.
