Elvira Ariemma: East Massapequa Resident

Longtime East Massapequa resident Elvira Ariemma died September 5, 2007 at East Neck Nursing Center in West Babylon. She was 91-yearsold and lived on Fair Court, for more than 35 years.

Born January 15, 1916 in Brooklyn to Emil and Lida (Lembo), she worked as a custodian for the Jericho Public School System until her retirement. According to her nephew Peter, she was a woman with a great sense of humor.

"She was a lot of fun to spend time with, and she loved her family," he said.

Ms. Ariemma was a dedicated parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church in Massapequa. She leaves behind her siblings: Dorothy Spadaro, Edmund and his wife Gloria; her sister in law, Emma; her nephews: Peter Spadaro and his wife JoAnn, Ronald Spadaro and his wife Susan, Richard Spadaro and his wife Michele, Kenneth Spadaro, Stephen Ariemma and his wife Joy; her nieces: Debra Panico and her husband Joseph, Lorraine and Gloria Ariemma.

A prayer service was held at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on September 7, 2007 with Father Edward Seagriff pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes R.C. Church. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at the church on September 8, 2007 followed by interment in the Long Island National Cemetery at Pinelawn.
