by Tiffany Elliott

Massapequa Park resident Virginia Arent, a loving mother, grandmother and wife, died August 31, 2007. She died a week after celebrating her 75th birthday.

Born in Rockaway Beach, Queens she later moved to Massapequa Park with her husband, Charles and raised a family. They lived on Eastgate Road for 53 years.

She spent her life caring for her large family, and was the resident expert at crossword puzzles.

"She was so good at them. Whenever I had a question, she'd know the answer," said Charles.

Mrs. Arent leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Charles; her children: Charles, Catherine Badamo, Joanne Luca, Frank, Patricia Griffith, Mary Anne Bruch, William, Peggy Massaro and Robert. Her 23 grandchildren and her sister, Eileen Williams, also survive her.

She reposed at the Massapequa Funeral Home, Massapequa Park, on September 2 and 3, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial was said on September 4, 2007 at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church followed by interment in Long Island National Cemetery at Calverton.
