John McGeough, former Babylon and Seaford resident
by Tiffany Elliott

In addition to his family, Babylon resident John W. McGeough had many loves in his life: souped-up cars, Bulldogs and speed skating, the latter of which he did up until the end of his life, spending days at iceskating rinks with his wife, Victoria.

He died September 14, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip at the age of 74.

"As long as I knew him, he loved to ice skate and taught all of the children. Even when he was in a nursing home, I would take him to a rink and they'd have to tell him to slow down because he'd start speed skating," said his wife who added that Mr. McGoeough also performed at Madison Square Garden.

Mr. McGeough lived in Seaford for 30 years before moving to Pennsylvania in 1989. In 1994 he came back to Long Island with his wife and settled in Babylon. Since 1998, he resided at Our Lady of Con- solation Nursing Home in West Islip.

Born in Brooklyn, he served in the Navy Seabees from 1952 to 1956. A sheet metal worker for Local 28, he worked in Manhattan until his retirement in 1989.

In his spare time he loved to stay fit, work on his muscle cars and breeding and showing Bulldogs with his wife.

Mr. McGeough leaves behind his wife, Victoria; his children: Susan Lewis and her husband Richard, Patricia Noble and her husband Thomas, Carol Mullen and her husband Christopher and John. Eight grandchildren, one great grandchild, and his sisters, Joan DePrisco and Judith Muesella, also survive him.

He reposed at the Claude R. Boyd Spencer Funeral Home, 448 West Main St., Babylon Village, on September 15 and 16, 2007. A Funeral Mass was said on September 17, 2007 followed by entombment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
