Knights of Columbus membership drive

The Knights of Columbus, a worldwide Catholic organization was founded in 1882 in New Haven, Connecticut. Now, some 250 years later the Knights are 1,700,000 strong in countries throughout the world. These men volunteered more than 68 million hours through their fraternal activities. The charities who benefited from the Knights $143,816,000 over the past year and over a ten-year span gave more than 1.25 billion dollars and volunteered more than 593 million hours of service.

There is much more to do and achieve, but it takes manpower to provide assistance to those with needs. During the month of October, the Knights of Columbus will hold a worldwide membership drive. The Bellmore Council, now 787 members strong, would like to speak to and show any Catholic gentleman, age 18 or over, what the group is about. If you are interested in gaining insight into the many activities of the Knights, contact the following Bellmore Council members, James Turzilli at 781-5389 or James Mikowski at 826-7203.
