MASSAPEQUA SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS

The following business came before the Massapequa School Board at its meeting Sept. 20. The board:

•terminated Head Custodian I for failure of satisfactorily completing a probationary term;

•authorized Charles Sulc, acting superintendent of schools to hire SERAPH, Inc., to conduct a security threat and vulnerability assessment in all school buildings at a cost not to exceed $14,850;

•approved an agreement with Nassau BOCES to install a district-wide fibre optic network;

•accepted a donation from Rosemary Cain in the sum of $1,500 to establish a small section in the Fairfiled library dedicated to heroes in memory of her son, New York City Firefighter George Cain who died in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center, Sept. 11, 2001;

•appointed community residents to serve on the district's budget/finance and buildings and grounds committees for the coming school year.

The next school board meeting is Thursday, Oct. 18. The district's telephone number is 516-797- 6160.
