Theo Byndloss, resident of East Massapequa

Longtime East Massapequa resident and carpenter Theophilus "Theo" Byndloss died September 26, 2007 at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola. He was 88 years old and had built his own home on Trebor Road where he lived for more than 40 years.

He was born March 17, 1919 in Resource, Manchester, Jamaica, West Indies to Leonard and Sophia (nee Dennis) Benloss. Upon immigrating to the U.S., his last name had been misspelled and remained that way, according to his family.

He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946 and was employed for many years by the Carpenters Union Local #1 in Hauppauge until his retirement.

Mr. Byndloss leaves behind his daughter: Winson Benloss Wellington; his grandchildren: Angella Benloss, Herbert , Warren, Renee and Dean Wellington, Angela Benloss, Steve Benloss, Andrew Benloss and Yolanda; 26 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Jennie Scott in January of 1986 and his son, Hezekiah Benloss.

Mr. Byndloss reposed at the Powell Funeral Home, Amityville, on September 30, 2007. A Prayer Service was held at the funeral home on October 1, 2007 followed by entombment in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
